These Bible study methods are so powerful, so impacting that it changes us at the core of who we are, transforming us from the inside out at the heart level. It gives light in the darkness, hope amid discouragement, freedom, and joy to those previously troubled and trapped.
It is not a new and unique, previously undiscovered method, but rather a “new and living way” (Hebrews 10:20) opened up for us by Jesus. This site, these Bible lessons, books, and blogs, are designed to show us how to walk through that way and enjoy lasting freedom.
What can you expect here? Well, let’s let Anna who completed the lessons of the A United Front book tell us in her own words:
Anna writes, “I started A United Front with a huge burden and weight. Little by little, the beauty of Christ and His work on the cross was revealed to me. There were so many practical and powerful lessons. At each stop on the way, I was able to drop a little bit of the pain I was feeling. Each day the weight was getting lighter and lighter as I was learning the truth of Jesus Christ and who I was in Him. Thirty days ago, I started this course a bitter, angry woman being crushed under the weight of pain, but I'm leaving this course a kinder, more compassionate woman filled with the love and hope of Christ. My husband said it best the other day when he said, "it's so nice to see you smile and laugh again."
Maybe you have experienced a similar burden, a weight so heavy it felt like an anchor around your soul, threatening to keep you down under its power. Maybe it has been the burden of the betrayal of a spouse, or captivity to a habit that overpowers you, or perhaps it’s been dark thoughts, discouraging self-talk or lifelong beliefs or patterns that you can’t seem to change.
Oh, friend, what you need is powerful, transformative, heart-changing, life-altering rescue and relief. You need the burden lifted, the weight dropped, and the anchor cut loose! And maybe you will find it right here, at this site, like Anna above, and thousands of others have experienced. Maybe you, too, will begin to smile and laugh again!
What can you expect from the Setting Captives Free books and Bible study methods? You can expect to have an experience much like that of a man named Saul in the New Testament.
Here is Saul’s previous life:
“For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it.” Galatians 1:13 (NIV)
And here is Saul’s new life:
“I was personally unknown to the churches of Judea that are in Christ. 23 They only heard the report: “The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.” Galatians 1:22-23 (NIV)
From Persecutor to preacher! Saul experienced a massive self-quake. That is, his whole world was shaken up, so much so that he was changed at the core of his being, which resulted in a complete transformation of his life. He was a terrorist who became an evangelist! Now that’s power! He was so transformed that he even went by a different name: Saul was changed to Paul!
Now if you and I were to sit down with Anna, whose testimony you read earlier, or with the apostle Paul, they would both tell you about the method that changed their hearts and lives so dramatically.
Let’s read it from Paul first, and then Anna.
From Paul: “Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy...The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 1:13-14).
From Anna: “Little by little, the beauty of Christ and His work on the cross was revealed to me.”
Now, we can see an amazing truth begin to appear. Paul (formerly known as Saul) had something poured out on him, or in the original language of the Bible, “poured out abundantly,” or “excessively” on him. What was it? Mercy and grace! And this grace was powerful! It changed his heart, his mind, his beliefs, his direction, his focus, his motives, his desires, his entire self!
Anna experienced this same change, but she adds an important detail. She tells us exactly where this pouring out of grace happens, where this self-quake happens, where this power originates. Did you catch it? Here are her words again: “Little by little, the beauty of Christ and His work on the cross was revealed to me.”
Wait! What? A cross where a man died two-thousand years ago can change our hearts today? A cross where there was an earthquake two thousand years ago (Matthew 27:51) can give us a self-quake today? How is that even possible?
That brings us back to what we said at the beginning of this article:
“These Bible study methods are so powerful, so impacting that it changes us at the core of who we are, transforming us from the inside out at the heart level. It gives light in the darkness, hope amid discouragement, freedom, and joy to those previously troubled and trapped.”
Just like Anna began to experience such a dramatic change through the method of study that all the Setting Captives Free books use, so did Paul. In fact, Paul loved this method so much, it had changed him so powerfully, that he wrote the following to some friends at a church in the city of Corinth, “I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:2).
The aim of Setting Captives Free Publishing and all the books that we publish is to present content so clear, so logical, so cohesive, that anything you read here will tell you exactly how to experience this powerful freedom, this heart changing and life-transforming power. Yes, we either write every book, every blog post, every Bible lesson ourselves, or we screen every writing very carefully, to be sure that the end result you see has this same impacting message, spoken and written in numerous different ways, all the way through it.
It is unlikely that your name will change, like Saul’s did, but if you study any of the Setting Captives Free Bible study methods, it’s possible your heart and life will be transformed like Anna’s and Paul’s were.
